Good communication helps patients better understand their options, ask meaningful questions, and participate in decisions about their care.
When patients and providers communicate effectively, misunderstandings can be reduced and healthcare experiences often become more collaborative and productive.
Originally this was used when describing how patients should be treated with respect, empathy and by truly listening mostly by Physicians. I feel that anyone in healthcare you communicate with should treat you in the same way, so you get the care you need and deserve.
The present Health Care System is so complex. In many settings it is profit driven and Healthcare Providers (Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants) are expected to manage the care of large numbers of patients. The average time they are given to see you is 15minutes. That is all the time you have for your concerns taken care of.
Your health insurance carrier especially Medicare Advantage Plans dictates who you get care from, what medications will be paid for and what tests and procedure you are allowed to have. They are concerned about cost containment and profit not your best interests first.
This program gives you the information you need to truly understand the present health care system and give you the tools you need to navigate it at every level.
The information and tools you need is not available in one place and many times is provided by sites wanting you to buy services or products. There content can be biased towards this and not wholly in your best interest.
Absolutely not and have no intention of doing so. Any resources that I mention are based on my personal and professional experience and I found them helpful.
